Wooden Moulding Planes

Making the second plane, the Round. Construction is exactly the same, the only difference being the profile of the sole and iron. You can cut the profile of the sole by using the plane you just finished, assuring a perfect shape. You then have a truly "matched" pair of planes.
Scribe the sole profile onto the iron and then it's off to the grinder to shape it. The convex shape is a LOT easier to do.
Finish off as with the hollow and there you go-a pair of moulding planes.
The irons need tempering before they can be used in anger. This removes some of the hardness in the irons and makes them tougher. Pop them in the oven for an hour (the tool steel comes with the relevant temperature information) and you are done.
