No. 3-Mitred Box in Elm and Maple
As I have made a couple of jigs to make the first box it makes sense to make some more! This one is from some off-cuts of English elm and American black walnut.

| I won't go into detail on this one as the construction is pretty much the same as the previous two. I had some lovely crotch elm that was too good to throw away but to unstable to use. Now is a good time to use it! |

| The sides are made from some ripple sycamore. I left the scrub plane marks on the bottom-the texture looks nice when the box is opened. |

| I applied oil to the base before glue up as the elm
really soaks it up. I using Ecowoodoil on this one-its a blend of linseed,
tung and citrus oils. It smells amazing! The lid is going to be a lift off one, unlike the previous two boxes. |

| Clamps and glue at the ready! The lid has a rebate run around all four sides, trimming carefully to give a snug fit. Oil the lid and that's it! |

I made a dinky little fourth box from maple and paduak-that completes my run of boxes. Have a look at some pics of the completed boxes. |
