Live Edge Mantle Piece

This project was a request from my Mother-In-Law. We took a trip to Yandles saw mill and she hose a plank of steamed pear.

Here is the board of steamed pear. She particularly like the "live edge" complete with knots and work holes!   Layout and cut to rough size......
Flatten one face and remove wind....
Thickness....
Sand smooth.
Straighten the back.
Clean off any loose bark with an abrasive wheel.
Trim the ends to size....
Chamfers with a block plane.
On goes the oil....
And some more oil!
Ready to be installed.

Out with the old...
Some adhesive...
