Here are some diagrams of the layout of my workshop. They were drawn using Sketchup, a 3D cad program.
The diagram doesn't show the accumulated rubbish that seems to fill every spare space, but does give an idea of how it looks. The workshop is a double garage on the side of the house. It also houses the gas boiler which helps keep the shop a bit warmer. I have boarded one of the doors over and insulated them both to keep things cosy all year round. I also have a de-humidifier to keep the humidity at a constant level. Additional lighting and a cd player makes it a pleasant place to be!

UPDATE
January 2006
I've had another change about. This time all machinery is in the one side of the shop, with the table saw, router table and jointer together as an "island". Hopefully this will work out more convenient.

The router table surface is the same height as the table saw!
