Curved Table

I recently bought an "Airpress" vacuum veneer kit. This consists of a large plastic bag in which the piece to be veneered is put and a pump which removes all the air from the bag. The resulting vacuum provides a huge amount of pressing power! Let's make a project to try it out.

This is what you get in the box-4 foot by 4 foot poly bag, bag neck sealer, the pump, connector hose, breather material and a punch to make a hole for the bag connector.
Make a hole for the connector-make sure you put a backer board inside the bag!!!!
Screw the connector in and we're ready to go.
I made a couple of trial runs to get the hang of it. Here I'm veneering a flat panel....
and here a curved lamination.

(I'm using a melamine faced board under the workpiece to keep it flat and to make sure all the air is removed. I've cut some saw kerfs through the face of the board to aid this.)

You can see how the breather material is run to the hose to make sure all the air is removed from the bag.

Now I've got the idea let's make a curved table.
