After double checking my layout lines (and knifing in a few choice ones) I removed the waste from the rear of the neck.
I also ripped down the blank for the fingerboard from a piece of Ebony. Set this aside for later....
To the neck/body joint......

I decided to make the mortise in the body angled and leave the neck tenon "flat". Time for another jig.....

I made a full size sketch to work out the elevation and started work. I notched out the template on the table saw to give a 40mm wide recess. Then stuck on a 10mm spacer, 200mm from the end. This gave me the 3 degree tilt.

This was then screwed to a base board so I could clamp it securely to the body, making extra sure it was lined up with the centre line.
A quick bit of router work and voila!
To make the tenon I cheated and used my metalwork mill to remove the waste.
A quick test fit to see how tight it is..... and a tiny bit more to remove or I won't be able to get any glue in the joint.
Done! Next I remove any extra material and chamfered the end of the tenon. The area around the tenon needs to be trimmed to 3 degrees so it butts up square to the body. A little work with chisels and.....
We're almost there!
I need to trim the underside of the fingerboard area at 3 degrees to sit flush on the body. Again I've used my mill to accurately do this work.
Just a little clean-up work left with a chisel to do.
With the neck in position I measured the gap - the same amount needs to be removed from the bottom of the tenon to get a flush fit to the body.
And again the mill removes the bulk of the work.
All that is left is to level off the front of the tenon in front of the pick-up cavity with the body. I marked with a flat knife directly off the body and went over to the mill to trim it off.
And that's the neck fitted! Next to the fingerboard....
